Introducing Central Casting Articles

In July 2017, we launched the new Central Casting website, making it easier for you to get the information you need to become a Background Actor. Now we’re excited to launch our brand new Articles section, which will allow you to connect with the people who help make Central Casting great, from Casting Directors to industry professionals to all the Background Actors you see on screen.

There’s a lot to know about becoming a Background Actor, even more when you throw in Stand-In, photo double, and terms like “walla.” We want to make sure you have all the tools you need to be successful, whether it’s guiding you through the registration process or explaining what to do when you get a message from us.

Our articles will also give you a chance to get to know Casting Directors. We’ll dig in to why they started casting, the scenes they are most proud of, and give insight to what life is like on the other side of the phone line. Our staff members have some pretty incredible tales about working at Central Casting, including the time someone tried to ride into the lobby of our Burbank office on a horse.

We have over 90 years of history to share with you. You’ll learn more about the Golden Era greats who began their careers with us and how we pulled off some of our more challenging calls.
