Talent Onboarding FAQs

What is a Background Actor?

A Background Actor is someone who performs in a show in a nonspeaking role, usually in the background of scenes. Central Casting onboards minors from 15 days old to 17 years old to appear in movies, TV shows, and other productions. If you’re looking into how to get your child into acting, registering them as a Background Actor is a great way to get them on set experience.

Do I need to complete my minor’s Talent Onboarding before they can work?

Yes, you must complete the application, photo, forms, and Form I-9 portions of your minor’s Talent Onboarding before we can consider them for background work. Remember, the more thorough and accurate you are when filling out their application, the easier it is for Casting Directors to determine the types of roles your minor can portray.

I am unable to create a login, what do I do?

If you are unable to create a new login, it’s likely the email address is already connected to an online profile. Each online profile must have a unique email address. If you are registered with Central Casting and are attempting to create a profile for your minor, your minor’s profile must have a unique email address.

Why were my minor’s profile photos rejected?

The photos in your minor’s profile are used by Casting Directors to determine the types of roles they can portray and may be sent to production, so they must meet Central Casting’s photo guidelines. You will not be able to move on to the next step of onboarding until a member of our staff approves your minor’s photos.

If your minor’s photos are rejected, you will be given a reason(s). Retake their photo to fix the issue, then resubmit.

Why am I unable to move on to the next onboarding step?

Certain portions of the Talent Onboarding process must be completed before you can move on to the next step. Your minor’s onboarding hub will alert you to areas you must still complete and areas that are in review with Central Casting.

Why do my minor and I need to come into the office to complete Talent Onboarding?

You and your minor must come into the office to complete their Form I-9 and so we can review their required Form I-9 documentation . Per federal law, the parent or legal guardian and the minor must both attend Talent Onboarding. Every minor must bring a form of photo ID from Lists of Acceptable Documents (even babies).

Reservations are required for the in-office portion of Talent Onboarding and can only be made through the onboarding hub in your minor’s online profile.

What if my minor doesn’t have the necessary required documentation?

Those without required documentation (unexpired originals only, no photocopies) to accompany the I-9 form will be turned away.

You must also bring identification showing date of birth for the Age Verification form.

My minor is not a resident of the United States. Can I still sign them up with Central Casting?

In accordance with federal law, Central Casting is only able to hire those who are authorized to work in the United States.

I need to cancel or change my reservation. How do I do that?

Please review the email that was sent you from to cancel or change your reservation.

I did not receive a confirmation email for my reservation. What happened?
