How to Update: Profile Photo, Union Status, and More

As a Central Casting Background Actor, keeping your information updated is crucial to finding work and being successful. To help ensure we always have your accurate details on file, here’s how to update photos and key information with Central Casting.

Profile photo

We recommend uploading a current headshot and full body shot to your profile any time your look changes. Casting Directors look for this photo in your online profile when determining the types of roles you can portray.

Updating photos is easy. Just log in to your profile, then scroll to the Photographs section. Photos you upload should accurately reflect your current look, only feature you, be well-lit, and taken against a white or solid background. Also, please only upload photos of yourself in portrait (vertical) orientation, this ensures the Casting Director can clearly see your look. Don’t forget to delete old pictures by clicking the trash icon below your photo.

Sizes and appearance information

When booking their shows, Casting Directors use the information in your profile to find you in our casting platform and to determine if you meet the role requirements. Adding details like playing age, appearance information, special skills you can convincingly portray, and props you own helps Casting Directors find you in searches. Remember, it’s important to be honest and accurate about your appearance and other information; if you’re cast based on the details in your online profile, you will be expected to show up to set with that look, prop, or to perform that special skill.

Accurate sizes are also a key part to getting cast by Central Casting. We use your sizes in a variety of ways, including when production provides wardrobe, when a role requires a specific look, and when booking Stand-Ins and doubles. You can easily update or add your sizes by logging in to your online profile and opening the Appearance tab.

Union status

If you became a member of SAG-AFTRA and need to update your union status with Central Casting, you can do so by filling out our SAG-AFTRA update form. Our staff will review your information and proof of membership, then will update your profile.

If you have questions about joining SAG-AFTRA, you can learn more about eligibility and the process on their website. At Central Casting, we book SAG-AFTRA and non-union Background Actors, so when looking for jobs, be sure to read posts carefully to make sure you are submitting for a role you fit.

Contact information

Your email address not only gives you access to your online profile, but is used to send you communications from Central Casting, including availability inquiries for background work. If you need to change your email address, you can contact technical support at 855.500.2055, helpme@centralcasting.com, or through tech support chat.

While you will likely receive the majority of communications from Central Casting via email and your online profile, Casting Directors need your phone number to call you directly and send you text messages. We also need your current address so we can pay you. Casting and payroll store information separately, so you will need to update your address in two places. For casting, you can update or verify that your phone number and address are correct in the Contact Information section of your online profile.

Updating your payroll information is easy with myEP, Entertainment Partners’ online pay portal. You can log in to myEP with the same email and password associated with your Central Casting online profile.

Minor’s work permits

Once your child is registered with Central Casting, did you know it was possible for them to become inactive and ineligible to work? The most common reason this happens is when their work permit expires. States vary on how they handle minor work permits; you can learn more about your location’s requirements and how to update in our guide Ensure Your Minor is Eligible to Be Booked by Central Casting.

For more information on how to keep your profile, union status, and other information up to date with Central Casting, read through the FAQs on your location’s Talent page.
