FAQs
Signing Up
To be eligible to sign up with Central Casting, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or guardian must create and manage your account on your behalf. Babies must be at least 15 days old.
While you don’t need to live in the same state you sign up in, you do need to be willing to work in that state. Keep in mind, background work often involves early call times and flexible availability.
All background actors must present the documentation necessary to work in the United States. You can review the Lists of Acceptable documents here.
Yes – parents or guardians must sign up minors (those under the age of 18) and manage their account on their behalf. Please note that babies must be at least 15 days old.
Eligibility requirements for minors will differ depending on your state. Click here for more information.
Yes – you can include your SAG-AFTRA membership number in your application. Our team will verify this when we review your application.
To sign up, fill out your online application with your appearance information, sizes, and current photos.
Note that depending on the state, you may need to complete additional documentation and complete required training before you are eligible to work.
For more information on how to sign up, see our Get Cast page.
No – our sign-up process is now entirely digital.
If you are unable to create a new login, it's likely your email address is already connected to an online profile. To access your profile, select the "Forgot password" option on the sign-in screen, enter your email, then follow the instructions provided.
Your measurements are a key part of your online profile and are used for a variety of reasons, like when booking doubles and when production provides wardrobe. Visit our Talent Resources page for easy-to-follow tutorial videos on taking accurate measurements.
We require you to submit one headshot and one full-body shot when you sign up:
Headshot: This should be a forward-facing color photo of you from the shoulders up (like a passport photo).
Full-body shot: This should be a full-body head-to-toe color photo of you in a neutral pose. It should not be a selfie.
In your photos, please ensure you are standing against a solid white or light color background. Please avoid wearing hats, sunglasses or other obstructive accessories or using props or filters.
No – professional headshots cannot be used to consider you for background work as they are often retouched and edited. For more information, see our photo guidelines.
While we understand that personal expression and artistic expression are important, we encourage you to infuse your personal style while dressing in a professional manner that you would like to be seen by casting directors, production staff and other industry professionals.
Casting directors recommend neutral, form-fitting clothing and minimal makeup so that they can get a true sense of what you look like. Please avoid wearing white, as well as sunglasses, hats and other obstructive accessories.
Please also ensure that you wear clothes that cover your torso and chest in your headshot and full-body shot. Additional photos, including bathing suit images, can be uploaded to your profile once approved.
Please check that your photo is in .jpeg or .png format. Our platform does not accept photos in other formats, like .pdf.
The photos in your profile are used by casting directors to determine the types of roles you can portray and may be sent to production, so they must meet our photo guidelines.
If your photos are rejected, you will be given a reason(s). Retake your photo to fix the issue, then resubmit.
Yes, in the “Casting Information” section of your profile, there is an upload feature where you can add your stand-in resume.
Yes, you can add vehicles that you own and are willing to work with in the “Vehicles You Own” section of your profile. Be sure to include as much information as you can, including vehicle type, make, model, color, and year. We will continue to add vehicle options to our system; if you don’t see information that matches your car, include what you can and check back for updates.
If you are required to take anti-harassment training, once you have completed the course, your Central Casting profile will be updated within 24 hours to mark your training as complete. You will not receive a certificate of completion or a confirmation email.
After 48 hours, if your online profile does not reflect that your training is complete, please fill out our Update Request Form.
Certain portions of the sign-up process must be completed before you can move on to the next step. On-platform messaging will let you know which sections you must still complete and which sections are in review with Central Casting.
Central Casting can only hire people who have the documentation necessary to work in the United States. You can review the list of acceptable documents here.
Once you've completed all required steps of the sign-up process, Central Casting will review your profile and will email you to let you know if it has been approved or if we need additional information.
