Adding Costumes and Wardrobe to Your Online Profile

Here's what you need to know about adding wardrobe to your online profile.

One of the fun parts of being a background actor is putting wardrobe together for a variety of roles. The wardrobe and costumes you own not only show you can put great looks together, but can help you get booked.

What types of wardrobe should I add?

Having a variety of wardrobe options helps casting directors and production companies determine the types of roles you can portray. Do you have a pristine Santa suit? Can you put together great '90s outfits? Have a bunch of non-trademarked Halloween costumes? These are all great options to add to your profile.

Even adding common wardrobe, like a business suit or workout gear, can make it easier for casting directors to find you when they need background actors for commonly booked scenes.

Just remember, you should only add wardrobe you own and have access to. Scenes are commonly booked with short notice, if you are booked because you have the specific wardrobe needed for the scene, you will be expected to show up to set with it.

How do I add costumes to my profile?

To add your costumes and wardrobe, log in to your profile and open the "Casting Information" section. Then scroll to the "Wardrobe" option. Here you can choose from the most common looks or add unique looks by choosing "other" and typing in your costume. You can add as many costumes and wardrobe options you wish to this section.

When it comes to adding photos of yourself in wardrobe and costumes, you should be more discerning. We recommend uploading a casual, business, and formal look, then 1-2 photos of unique costumes. Don't worry if you have multiple costumes and wardrobe options. If a casting director or production company is looking for specific costumes, they can post to the Open Roles page and ask for photo submissions.

To upload a photo to your profile, scroll to the "Photographs" section. After uploading a photo, you can select which slot (category) the photo falls into. If the wardrobe photo you uploaded doesn't have a unique slot, choose "wardrobe: other."

No matter the type of photo you upload, pictures should always fit within Central Casting's photo guidelines. These guidelines include photos that are correctly framed, well lit, in focus, and taken against a white or solid light background. Photographs that obscure your face, include other people, and are dark or blurry should not be uploaded to your online profile. You should also never edit, touch up, or add Instagram/Snapchat/social media filters to your pictures. Since these types of photos don't accurately represent what you look like, they cannot be used when considering you for roles.
