We cast Louisiana movies and TV shows

There are a lot of exiting things happening for Louisiana Background Actors in 2019. Whether you’re registered with Central Casting or are planning on registering, now’s the perfect time to catch up on some news and find out what you can do to get on set of Louisiana movies and TV shows.

Louisiana Casting Directors honored at background ceremony

The 5th annual Background Actors Guild Awards were held January 12, 2019 at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation. The event honors people who work in the Louisiana entertainment industry, including Background Actors, Stand-Ins, and Casting Directors. This year Central Casting Louisiana Casting Directors Mary H. and Blossom P. were nominated for Casting of the Year. During the ceremony, Mary was announced as the 2018 Background Guild honoree for Casting of the Year.

“We wouldn’t have a job without [Background Actors],” Mary said while accepting her award. “You’re telling a story that directors don’t have time to tell.”

Jennifer Bender, Central Casting Executive Vice President shared, “The Casting of the Year nominations for Mary and Blossom exemplify how respected they are by the Louisiana entertainment community. The entire Louisiana team consistently shows their dedication to productions and the community of Background Actors in Louisiana. Congratulations to Mary for her Casting of the Year award and to the entire team on this honor from the Background Actors Guild.”

The Background Actors Guild serves as an independent group for Background Actors in Louisiana. The awards were voted on by members of the community.

“Mary, Blossom, and the entire Central Casting Louisiana team are very deserving of this award,“ said Central Casting Vice President Adam Hochfeld. “They tirelessly cast their projects with the well-being of the Louisiana talent in mind, advocating for the best rates and conditions, and going out of their way to visit set to show their appreciation.“

You can find a full list of winners on the Background Actors Guild website.

Come in to re-register or update

Has it been awhile since you visited our New Orleans office to re-register or update? As we gear up for pilot season, now would be a great time to make sure your casting photo reflects your current look so Casting Directors can be confident you fit the roles they’re casting.

Don’t forget, all Background Actors, including minors, will need to re-register every three years to remain eligible to work on our productions. You can re-register, take a new photo, or update your file at one of our Re-Registration and Updates sessions, which are held at our New Orleans office Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 1:30-2pm.
