There’s a lot to be excited about in the new year! Whether you make resolutions or just want to find ways to better yourself, these tips will help you be a successful Background Actor in 2021.

California and New York

The State of California and the State of New York have passed laws aimed at preventing harassment. Part of these new laws requires employers to provide anti-harassment training to its employees. In California, employees will need to take the training every two years. In New York, employees will need to take the training every year.

If you work in California or New York and have not completed your anti-harassment training, then you are not eligible to be booked by Central Casting. You can become eligible to be booked again by completing your required training. Email invitations to take the training were sent to the email address on file with Central Casting; if you did not receive an invite please contact technical support at helpme@centralcasting.com or 855.500.2055.

Take new photos

A new year is a great time to take new photos that represent your current look. Even small changes, like a hair trim, can affect the roles you can portray. We know your profile photo may no longer reflect your current look, so we recommend having someone take a great photo of you to add to your profile. These photos don’t need to be professional, but should only feature you, be clear, not include touch ups or filters, and be taken against a white background, if possible.

Don’t forget to take additional photos in wardrobe you own and have access to and of additional looks you can portray.

Update your minor’s work permit

In order for your child to be booked by Central Casting, they must have a valid entertainment work permit. Each state has their own guidelines and requirements for work permits; you can find more about obtaining a permit in your state here:

In Los Angeles submit a copy of the updated permit on our Minor’s Permit Update page. In New York, email a copy of the permit to regccny@centralcasting.com.
